Description of the Romans 2000 Project
The
history of the handling of the Apostle Paul's Letter to
the Romans, as well as the text's significance to the
Christian Church at various transition points, has prompted
us to engage in an intensive process of study and
discussion of the letter.
We committed
to a collaborative reading of Romans, one that embraces
diversity of thought and perspective, rather than deriving
from one person alone. The diversity of our group spans
many major Christian denominations, as well as a Jewish
scholar (for Romans 9-11). With a target audience of
various students of Scripture, we are creating layers of
material accessible to laity and clergy, to both novice and
professional scholar.
